Minimalist climbing tools. Built to fade into your flow.

Hey, I’m John. I design climbing gear that’s a bit different.

The Butterfly Brush started as a joke between friends: “What if a climbing brush flipped like a butterfly knife?” I laughed… and then I built it.

Turns out, having a brush that flips open like a butterfly knife isn’t just fun. It makes it way more engaging to use. You can do tricks with it, fidget between burns, or just keep your hands busy while working out beta. It’s one of those little things that helps you stay present on the wall.

But the real magic is in the design. The brush is fully modular and repairable. Instead of replacing the whole thing when the bristles wear down, you can just swap out the brush head. Even better, you can flip the head 180 degrees to get full use out of the bristles before needing a new one. Less waste, longer life, better feel.

I make everything in small batches and tweak things constantly. Strength Labs is just getting started, but the goal is simple: make gear that’s satisfying to use, easy to fix, and built to fade into your flow.

There’s more coming soon too. I’ve got a few new tools in the works that I can’t wait to share — all designed with the same focus on feel, function, and fun.

Thanks for being here.

I can only make small batches at a time, so when they're ready, I always let my email list know first. It’s my way of giving the people who care most about the project first dibs. Until I can scale things up, the email newsletter is the best way to stay in the loop and grab one before they’re gone.
